I think right at the outset of this article that it is necessary for me to say that in relation to the title, ‘Evolution Creates Liars’, my ‘target audience’ is very much those who on the one hand affirm that the Bible is The Word of God and then on the other hand deny the truth of 6-day creation, preferring rather to perhaps give their allegiance and support to ‘Theistic Evolution’. I will be quite up-front now in saying that for me, holding such a position, calls into great question that person’s claim to be a faithful Christian – it’s as serious as that. Why do I come to that conclusion? Well, shortly I will outline just some of the consequences of a professing Christian claiming to believe in ‘THEISTIC EVOLUTION’ but, to begin with –

In a number of recent articles that I have been publishing on the ministry web site I have included the text of some tracts that were written and published in the early years of ‘Take Heed’ Ministries.

These articles have related to PURGATORY, CHRISTIAN SCIENCE, THE HARE KRISHNAS, YOGA, THE NEW AGE MOVEMENT and JEHOVAH’S WITNESSES and JESUS. The relevant articles for these can be accessed on –

As with those other articles I want now to include the text of an early ‘Take Heed’ Ministry tract which in this case was titled “EVOLUTION CREATES LIARS”.

“He that believeth not God hath made Him a liar” 1 John 5:10

Having just finished a talk to a class of candidates for the ministry in a major denomination I was ‘verbally assaulted’ by the principal of the theological college who had picked up on a brief reference I made to creation and Evolution and proceeded to state in the strongest possible terms that many true Christians believe in the theory of evolution and reject the biblical account of a literal six-day creation as recorded in Genesis. Somewhat taken aback by this development I tried to explain why I accepted without reservation the account in Genesis to be correct, adding of course that I also accepted that there are some genuine brothers and sisters in Christ who are evolutionists (Cecil – I’m not sure that I would be just as charitable if a similar situation were to arise today).

Graciously the principal did apologise for the ferocity of his attack but that encounter prompted me to produce this leaflet in defence of the Word of God and the integrity of some very important persons who are in effect made out to be LIARS if the theory of evolution is true.

In the eleventh chapter of Hebrews, that great chapter which deals with ‘the nature and fruits of faith’ as it is headed in ‘The Thompson Chain Reference Bible’, the third verse reads as follows – “Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear”. An evolutionist CANNOT say ‘Amen’ to this verse.

What an evolutionist believes is totally and completely opposite to what is stated in this verse. Dr. John Whitcomb, professor of Theology and Old Testament at Grace Theological Seminary in Winona Lake, Indiana, summed it up very well when on page 52 of his book ‘The Early Earth’ he wrote “the testimony of an honest evolutionist could be expressed in terms of Hebrews 11:3 as follows – By faith, I, an evolutionist, understand that the worlds were not framed by the word of any god, so that what is seen has indeed been made out of previously existing and less complex visible things, by purely natural processes through billions of years”.

Constantly in his writings PAUL makes reference to characters and events portrayed in the account of creation as recorded in Genesis. On most occasions he refers to them to underscore a particular fundamental truth and if evolution is true and creation is simply a myth then some great biblical truths are built on ‘sinking sand’ and not on ‘solid rock’. In explaining God’s order in relation to authority, headship etc PAUL wrote in 1 Timothy 2:13 “For Adam was first formed, then Eve”.

When warning the church in Corinth to be on their guard against false preachers and false gospels PAUL wrote in 2 Corinthians 11:3 “But I fear lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtilty, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ”.

Concerning the universality of sin and its consequences PAUL wrote in Romans 5 “As by ONE man sin entered into the world and death by sin” (v 12) “death reined from ADAM to Moses” (v 14) “through the offence of ONE many be dead” (v 15) “by the offence of ONE judgment came upon all men to condemnation” (v 18). PAUL clearly taught that ADAM was a real person and that HIS transgression of God’s law had consequences for every individual born thereafter (except for the virginborn Lord Jesus Christ).

In contrast to the offence of this ONE man (ADAM) PAUL then declared what ONE other person, (THE LORD JESUS CHRIST), had accomplished on behalf of many when he wrote “the grace of God and the gift of grace which is by ONE man, Jesus Christ, hath abounded unto many” (v 15) “by the righteousness of ONE the free gift came upon all men unto justification of life… by the obedience of ONE shall many be made righteous” (v 18-19).

If evolution is true then PAUL should be viewed as a seriously deluded Apostle.

For many years there has been an ongoing debate concerning the human writer of the first five books of the bible. I believe the bible states clearly that Moses was the writer. The Jewish people regarded what we now have as the Old Testament to be the Word of God and acknowledged three categories or divisions (1) The writings of Moses known as The Pentateuch (Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers and Deuteronomy); (2) The Psalms; (3) The Prophets.

On two known occasions the Lord Jesus Christ clearly acknowledged His agreement to the view that Moses wrote The Pentateuch. In His account of what happened to the rich man and Lazarus after they died (Luke 16:19-31) Jesus quoted the words spoken to the rich man in hell by Abraham and in verses 29 and 31 we see Abraham referring to Moses and The Prophets and clearly he is speaking specifically of the scriptures attributed to them.

Then in the account of how the risen Lord Jesus Himself drew near and walked with the two disciples on the road to Emmaus (Luke 24:13-31) we read of how He explained from the scriptures that all the events surrounding His crucifixion had been foreshadowed and foretold in the Word of God. In verse 27 we read “And beginning at MOSES and all the prophets, he expounded unto them in all the scriptures the things concerning himself”. That must have been quite a bible lesson.

Later these two disciples themselves also confirmed the authorship of MOSES when recounting what had happened to them. To their fellow disciples they quoted the words of Jesus, “all things must be fulfilled which were written in the Law of Moses and in the prophets and in the psalms concerning me” (v 44).

The Word of God declares MOSES to be the writer of Genesis and if evolution is true then MOSES is guilty of fabricating a pack of lies.

In the third chapter of his second letter, the Apostle PETER predicted that a time will come when people will poke fun at the “blessed hope” (Titus 2:13) of every true believer, the promised and eagerly awaited personal return of the Lord Jesus Christ. They will shut their minds to the certain fact that judgment is coming and they will live as though all things will continue without change or interruption.

In the course of his writings PETER refers to two mighty ‘acts of God’ recorded by Moses in the book of Genesis. In verses five and six PETER makes direct reference to the flood of judgment which came upon the earth in the days of Noah and at the end of the preceding verse four PETER writes of how the scoffers will say that “all things continue as they were from the beginning of THE CREATION”. It would certainly damage the Apostle PETER’S prophecy of future judgment of the world by God if he were found to be making reference to events that were only myth and legend.

In the first chapter of this second letter the Apostle PETER wrote “no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation. For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost” (v 20-21). Here the Apostle PETER affirms his belief that the scriptures are ‘inspired’ or literally ‘God-breathed’ and his reference to “THE CREATION” shows that PETER accepted fully the Genesis account and that leaves no room for any belief in evolution.

In the introduction I stated that, to the principal of the theological college, I had tried to explain why I accepted, without reservation, the Genesis account of creation. When speaking to him I made no reference to the writer to the Hebrews, to the apostle Paul, to Moses or to the apostle Peter, but rather I concentrated on that the Lord Jesus Christ had to say on the subject. During His ministry the Lord Jesus often referred to events recorded in the Old Testament such as the story of Jonah, the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah and like Peter to the flood of Noah’s days.

Today many people reject the story of the flood and yet the Lord Jesus Christ made specific reference to God’s judgment by it when speaking of His own promised, judgmental return “But as the days of Noah were, so shall also the coming of the Son of Man be” (Matthew 24:37). Again, if like Peter, Jesus was likening conditions on earth at the time of His promised return and judgment to an event that was only myth or legend then the “blessed hope” would be reduced to ‘no hope’. The specific reference by Jesus to Noah and to the flood (Matthew 24:38-39) again confirms that it was a true fact of history as far as Jesus was concerned.

But what of creation? In my discussions with the principal I made reference to the words of Jesus recorded in Matthew 19:4 and Mark 10:6. These words are part of a conversation which Jesus had with the Pharisees on the topic of divorce. In particular I want to highlight the words recorded by Mark where Jesus said “But from THE BEGINNING of THE CREATION God made them male and female”. I believe this clearly shows that Jesus accepted the account of the creation of the world and that Adam and Eve were ‘fact’ and not ‘fiction’.

If evolution is true then the Lord Jesus Christ should be viewed as a dangerous deceiver because of His affirmation of the Genesis account of creation.

Recent changes in the education curriculum have opened the way for the teaching of evolution to primary school pupils. It has been encouraging to read of both parents and teachers objecting to this because of their belief in the Word of God. (Cecil – please keep in mind this tract was written in the mid 1990’s when conditions regarding education and parental input were somewhat different from what they are today).

The Lord Jesus Christ who Himself spoke of “the creation” could also have rightly spoken in terms of “my creation” for, as the apostle Paul wrote, “by him were all things CREATED that are in heaven (was there evolution in heaven?) and that are in earth… all things were CREATED by him and for him” (Colossians 1:16).

In the opening paragraph of this article I wrote – ‘shortly I will outline just some of the consequences of a professing Christian claiming to believe in ‘THEISTIC EVOLUTION’. In a recent article on TIM KELLER who subscribes to ‘THEISTIC EVOLUTION’ I outlined the serious ramifications of such a belief being held by a professing Christian. The article in full can be accessed on

In that article I stated that the ramifications of holding to such a belief would result in

An outright denial of the clear teaching of CREATION in God’s Word

An outright denial of the ‘proximate cause’ for the presence of death in the world namely God’s judgment upon the sin of Adam (Romans 5:12)

A failure to appreciate the Biblical correlation between ‘condemnation’ (the sin of Adam) and ‘justification’ (the sinlessness of Christ) as outlined in 1Corinthians 15:22.

Raises doubts over God’s instantaneous creative ability – if our present ‘mortal corruptible body’ took thousands or millions of years to arrive at by evolution then why should we  believe that our ‘glorified incorruptible body’ will happen “in the twinkling of an eye” (1 Corinthians 15:51-54)?

Results in the integrity of many figures in the Bible being undermined and called into question such as The Apostle Paul (1 Timothy 2:13; 2 Corinthians 11:3; Romans 5:12-19; Colossians 1:16); The writer to the Hebrews (Hebrews 11:3); Moses (Genesis 1:1 and following to Genesis 2:2; Exodus 20:11); The Apostle Peter (2 Peter 3:4-6); The Apostle John
(John 1:1-3); The Lord Jesus Christ (Matthew 19:4; Mark 10:6).

An outright denial of what the Lord Jesus Christ said in John 17:17 concerning the scriptures namely “Thy Word is truth” – “truth” that He affirmed and expounded in His teaching to the two disciples on the road to Emmaus as we read in Luke 24:13-31.

Since writing that article on TIM KELLER I have also posted a short item on Facebook with a couple of helpful links. This was my Facebook post –

Followers of my Facebook site will be aware that I have written on several occasions of my concerns about TIM KELLER.

I have today been notified of a link that focuses on his fascination with ‘Catholic Mysticism’ and practices associated with Ignatius Loyola and the occult/mindaltering practice of ‘Lectio Divina’.

It also makes reference to his rejection of God’s literal 6-day creation that we read of in Genesis.

Listening to this man speaking my ‘spirit’ was greatly grieved – He is VERY dangerous!

The helpful link is

As a counter to Mr Keller’s views on Genesis the item on the following link may prove to be helpful –

Some years ago I recorded a TV discussion involving Ken Ham and 3 others who were evolutionists of one kind or another (including a Theistic evolutionist – Russell Stannard). Ken Ham did a great job in the face of such overwhelming odds and you can watch that item (it begins with a report on creation being taught in schools in Kansas) by going to this link –

Again, some years ago I invited my fellow contender, Roger Oakland of ‘Understand the Times’ to speak on the issue of ‘Creation v Evolution’ – the meeting took place in Portrush Baptist Church and you can see Roger’s presentation on these two links –

Roger Oakland also featured as the narrator of a very helpful video that was released some years ago and focussed on ‘ORIGINS’. You can watch it either on

Back in March 2015 the world was greatly excited by the prospect of the first ‘total solar eclipse’ to occur since 1999. It received extensive TV coverage and one TV guide wrote the following to advertise its planned coverage of the event –

STARGAZING LIVE: On Friday (20th March) for the first time since 1999 a total solar eclipse is scheduled to take place across the far northern regions of Europe and the Arctic. As excitement mounts in the run-up to one of the biggest astronomical events of the decade, BRIAN COX and Dara O’Briain return to Jodrell Bank Observatory in Cheshire for a new, nightly run of three live programmes. Tonight they are joined by legendary astronaut Buzz Aldrin, while Liz Bonnin prepares to bring us the perfect view of the eclipse – from above the clouds. Plus Dallas Campbell investigates the robots set to revolutionise space exploration, and Lucie Green offers tips on moon-gazing’.

You will note that I have highlighted in red the name of BRIAN COX and my reason for doing so is that back in March 2010 I wrote an article called –

A Total Eclipse of the Sun: A ‘Quirk of Fate’ or ‘the Glory of God’?

In that article I made reference to a series of TV programmes called ‘Wonders of the Solar System’ and the presenter was BRIAN COX. My article was ‘spurred-on’ by the terminology used by BRIAN COX as to how, in his opinion, such a wonderful and momentous event as a ‘total solar eclipse’ happens. My article can be seen on

In that article I gave a helpful quote from the book ‘The Battle for the Beginning’ by Pastor John MacArthur. That book can be obtained via these links –

Some years ago Pastor John MacArthur also preached a helpful series of sermons of this subject of CREATION and I have received kind and gracious permission to post the first three of those sermons to the ‘Take Heed’ Ministry YOUTUBE site and these are the relevant links –

In closing I would like to give some quotations from others who are much more gifted and expert in this field than myself and which highlight just how incompatible belief in ‘THEISTIC EVOLUTION’ is with being truly a faithful Christian.

‘Theistic Evolution and Progressive Creationism take away God’s glory. They strip him of his majesty and power, the very characteristics that define him. God created the original world out of his omnipotence, his glory, and his intrinsic, total perfection, which never changes’ (“The Genesis Solution” by Ken Ham and Paul Taylor: p 67).

‘The overwhelming evidence of design throughout the entire universe as well as in the solar system and our own planet has never been more obvious than now. The perfect mass of the proton and the exact factor of 2 in gravitational and electrical force equations demand a supreme Designer. So remarkable are these universal mathematical proportions that the term Anthropic [Human] Principle is being widely used among astronomers to describe the “neat and tidy” cosmic mathematical formulas which are independent of the human mind and yet seem to be in beautiful harmony with the way we think. The more we learn of the astronomic universe, the more we realize that evolutionism, even “theistic evolutionism” offers no rational answers’ (“The Early Earth”: Revised Edition: John C Whitcomb p 63).

‘Strangely theistic evolutionists who claim to be Christians while at the same time accepting evolution as the expression of God’s “strategy” of “creating” the world are often the slowest to see the contradictions and absurdities of evolutionary theories of the origin of the universe and of the earth/moon system and its surrounding planets and moons. While some nonChristian scientists such as Sir Fred Hoyle of England, are openly acknowledging the serious contradictions inherent in the Big Bang Theory, various Christian scientists and philosophers [including the present leadership of the 2100-member American Scientific Affiliation] are eloquently promoting cosmic evolution’ (“The Early Earth”: Revised Edition: John C Whitcomb p 66).

‘Theistic evolution cannot consistently allow for any physical miracle in Adam’s creation. Thus, even after the image of God was put into a male and female ape their bodies, being unaffected by this spiritual miracle, would continue to be subject to disease and death just like the bodies of other apes. THEREFORE sin could not be the cause of physical death even in the human race and Romans 5:12 would be incorrect when it tells us that “through one man sin entered into the world and death through sin” evolution’ (“The Early Earth”: Revised Edition: John C Whitcomb p 119).

‘Original sin, with death as a result, is the basis of the Gospel. That is why Jesus Christ came and what the Gospel is all about. If the first Adam is only an allegorical figure, then why not the last Adam [1st Corinthians 15:45-47] Jesus Christ? If man did not really fall into sin, then there is no need of a Savior. Evolution destroys the very foundations of Christianity because it states “death is, and always has been part of life”… Worse still, theistic evolutionists [those who believe in both evolution and God] are actively helping to undermine the basis of the Gospel… If Christians wish to preserve the structure of Christianity, they must protect its foundation and therefore actively oppose evolution’ (“The Lie”: Ken Ham p 76).

‘Modern evolutionary theory accepts that evolution is still going on [therefore man must still be evolving!], so if a Christian accepts evolution he has to accept that God is still using evolution today. Thus, He is still creating. But God tells us that He finished His work of creating. This is a real; dilemma for theistic evolutionists.’ (“The Lie”: Ken Ham p 144).

‘The leading humanist of Darwin’s day, Thomas Huxley [1825-1895] eloquently pointed out the inconsistencies of reinterpreting Scripture to fit with popular scientific thinking… Huxley understood Christianity much more clearly than did compromising theologians who tries to add evolution and millions of years to the Bible. He used their compromise against them to help his cause in undermining Christianity… Huxley made the point that if we are to believe the New Testament doctrines, we MUST believe the historical account of Genesis as historical truth… When people rejected the Bible, he was happy. BUT when they tried to harmonize evolutionary ideas with the Bible and reinterpret it, he vigorously attacked this position’ (“The New Answers Book”: General editor Ken Ham: pp 32-33).

I can think of no better way to conclude this article than by quoting the following portion from the Westminster Confession of Faith – something that perhaps TIM KELLER and other ‘THEISTIC EVOLUTIONISTS claim to subscribe to –

“It pleased God the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost, for the manifestation of the glory of His eternal power, wisdom, and goodness, in the beginning, to create, or make out of nothing, the world, and all things therein whether visible or invisible, in the space of six days; and all very good.” Westminster Confession of Faith (4:1)
