Was Mary ‘Immaculately Conceived’?

  [PDF]

Each year, in the Roman Catholic ‘calendar’, on the 8th December, ‘The Feast of the Immaculate Conception’ is observed. Helpful information on what this feast relates to can be found on this Roman Catholic web site link

http://www.newadvent.org/cathen/07674d.htm

Just a few lines from the item on that link will give understanding as to who and what the term ‘Immaculate Conception’ refers to – there we read –

‘the Blessed Virgin Mary “in the first instance of her conception, by a singular privilege and grace granted by God, in view of the merits of Jesus Christ, the Saviour of the human race, was preserved exempt from all stain of original sin.”’

On 18th May 1996, I was privileged to be one of a number of speakers at a conference organised in San Diego by former Roman Catholic priest, Bart Brewer. The conference was held at the then headquarters of his ministry Mission to Catholics International’.

Since then Bart has been ‘promoted to glory’ and you can read a tribute I penned in memory of him when he died back in 2005 by going to this link –

Tribute to Bart Brewer

In that tribute I made reference to that 1996 conference in these words –

It was a great joy for Margaret and myself to visit and stay with Bart and Ruth in San Diego in 1996 and I was able to participate as a speaker at the conference he hosted at the ‘Mission to Catholics’ complex on 18th May 1996

The title of the talk I gave was ‘Mary and her Saviour’ and in that talk I specifically addressed and refuted the claim of Rome for Mary’s ‘Immaculate Conception’. You can hear what I said by going to this link –

My prayer is that the Lord might be pleased to open the understanding of those who have been deceived by this false teaching of Mary’s supposed ‘Immaculate Conception’.
