Did Jesus predict Mohammed?

  [PDF]

This short article is simply a reprint of a post I made today on FACEBOOK but I felt it should be reproduced as an article on the ministry web site because of the relevance of the topic. There are ‘voices’ trying to ‘marry together’ the religion of Christianity and the ideology of Islam – they are deceiving ‘voices’ and must be firmly and biblically resisted and that is my hope for this article.

This is what I wrote in my FACEBOOK post –

I came across the following online newspaper article that tries to persuade Bible-believing Christians that Mohammed was a true prophet and one predicted by the Lord Jesus Christ. This is the link –

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/ian-mevorach/did-jesus-predictmuhammad_b_9762934.html

In the article the writer defends several Islamic claims that Mohammed was predicted by verses from the Old Testament (Deuteronomy 18) and also by Jesus in John 14-16. By way of rebuttal to what is written I would direct you to the link of a talk I gave last year on Islam and I specifically deal with these false claims – you can see what I said on this link (watch from 6.05 – 16.20) This is the link –

I also dealt with some of these claims in an article I wrote back in 2008 called ‘The Promised Prophet of Deuteronomy 18: Jesus Christ or Mohammed?’

The link to that article is –

Returning to the Lord’s words in John’s gospel let me close with these that are found in John 14:26

“But the Comforter, WHO IS THE HOLY SPIRIT, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatever I have said unto you”

And in John 16:7-11

“It is expedient for you that I go away; for if I go not away the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart I will send him unto you. And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin and of righteousness and of judgment. Of sin BECAUSE THEY BELIEVE NOT ON ME; of righteousness BECAUSE I GO TO MY FATHER; of judgment because the prince of this world is judged”.

And in John 16:13-14

“Nevertheless, when he the Spirit of truth is come, he will guide you into all truth; for he shall not speak of himself, but whatever he shall hear that shall he speak and he will show you things to come. HE SHALL GLORIFY ME”

The Comforter is clearly identified as THE HOLY SPIRIT whose ‘mission’ is to convince people who have been convicted of their sinfulness to BELIEVE on the Lord Jesus Christ who has ascended to His FATHER in heaven.

Finally the promised Comforter is to GLORIFY the Lord Jesus Christ and as Mohammed denied both the deity and the death of the Lord he fails utterly to GLORIFY Christ. On ALL counts Mohammed falls totally and woefully short and is not the One predicted by the Old Testament (Deuteronomy 18) or in person by the Lord Jesus Christ in John 14-16.
