News From The Front – March 2006

Dear praying friends,

By the time this newsletter arrives with you that ‘landmark’ birthday that I mentioned in my December 2005 newsletter will be part of history. As I contemplated the passing of yet another decade of my life, a phrase that will be familiar to those who have travelled by air came to mind – it’s the one that is said to the cabin crew by the captain as an aeroplane nears the runway at the start of its journey – the intercom will sound and the captain will inform the stewards and stewardesses to ‘prepare for take-off’ and this instruction will usually be followed by feverish last-minute activity. Those of us who have tasted God’s ‘so great salvation’ should always be ‘prepared for take-off’ for truly none of us know ‘what a day may bring forth’ [Proverbs 27:1]. Is there any purging, pleading, ploughing, praying or even reparation that needs to be attended to? Well, do it now, for how close to or even how far down the runway that leads to ‘take-off’ we are, none of us know. Enclosed with this newsletter are several enclosures and on one are copies of faxes sent to Tony Blair. ‘The family’ as established by God is under attack as never before due to recently implemented legislation and it has also been recommended that God’s guidelines for raising children should be ignored and indeed outlawed. I have available [on audio cassette – price £2.50 – includes p&p] 2 sermons by a good ministerial friend entitled ‘Children obey your parents’ and ‘Parents discipline your children’. Although not quoting the AV the teaching is consonant with the AV translation and I heartily commend these sermons.

News From The Front – December 2005

Dear praying friends,

Let me first update you on some matters that you have been praying about. My niece Heather underwent a scan after her 6 chemo sessions finished and she was told that the cancer is now in remission for which we praise God. She is hoping perhaps to start work early in the New Year [DV]. Her condition will be closely and regularly monitored. Please pray on for her physical AND spiritual needs. For those who received details of the French Court Case involving our brother in Christ, Axel, a verdict is expected in early December [see blue enclosure] – again do please pray on that he will be released back to his family.

Again I would earnestly covet your prayers for what is shaping up to be a very busy first 4 months of 2006 [DV]. Please pray that many will attend and be helped by the seminars on Islam [see pages 3-4] and also through the special meetings involving Pastor Gary Gilley [see pages 7-10].

Next year [DV] will also herald for me one of those ‘landmark’ birthdays so please do pray that the Lord will graciously enable me to continue “with patience the race that is set before me” [Hebrews 12:1]. Margaret and I thank you for all your love and kindness at this the end of yet another year.

News From The Front – September 2005

Dear praying friends,

This September marks the 15th anniversary of the founding of ‘Take Heed’ Ministries and the 14th anniversary of the first ‘broadsheet’ issue of News From The Front. In that first issue I wrote ‘It is a source of great encouragement to my wife Margaret and me to know that people are praying very specifically for the ministry of “Take Heed”’. Today we are still heartened to know that many people, including quite a number who received that first issue, are still prayerfully supporting us. Many too, along with others who have ‘enlisted’ over the years, have faithfully and generously supported the work and again we return our grateful thanks to all.

In the first issue I referred to several leaflets that we were publishing on the subjects of ‘The Hare Krishnas’ and ‘The Jehovah’s Witnesses’. As you will read in the separate enclosure with this newsletter we are hoping to publish a leaflet for distribution amongst Muslim neighbours who desperately need to be informed of the true Christian view of Islam and be presented with the true Christian Gospel. We covet very much your prayerful and practical support for this venture and if you can make use of these leaflets then please ask for a supply and pray for opportunities to use them as the Lord leads. Please also pray on for my niece Heather nearing the end of her chemotherapy sessions.

News From The Front – June 2005

Dear praying friends,

I want to thank the many who contacted me to inquire how I was physically in the wake of the ‘roof space fall’ that I referred to in my opening letter of the March 2005 NEWS FROM THE FRONT. I did for a period of time experience some pain and discomfort in my back and shoulders caused by bruised/damaged muscles pressing on nerves but to all who prayed I am pleased to report that following 6 sessions of physiotherapy the problems have been put right so we give thanks to the Lord for His kindness and healing. I want now to bring a very special prayer request to your attention. In 2003 my wife Margaret and I attended the wedding of my niece Heather who lives in Canada. Heather is in her early thirties and following recent necessary and urgent surgery she has been diagnosed as having a particular form of cancer. She is scheduled to have 6 sessions of ‘strong’ chemotherapy – the first 3 being on 24 May, 14 June and 5 July [DV]. I would be most grateful if you would remember Heather in your prayers – praying both for her physical well being and also for her spiritual well being – she would not profess to be a believer, nor would her husband Dave whom I would also ask you to remember. Please pray also that the Lord might move in the midst of these difficult circumstances in the lives of their wider family circles.

News From The Front – March 2005

Dear praying friends,

On 2 separate occasions in early December my attention was drawn to the incident in the life of Matthew Henry some 300+ years ago when the gifted Bible Commentator was robbed and in his diary at the close of that day he wrote ‘Let me be thankful first, because I was never robbed before; second, because although they took my purse, they did not take my life; third, because although they took my all, it was not much; and fourth, because it was I who was robbed, not I who robbed’. That story was fresh in my mind when on 15th December whilst moving boxes in our roof space I, through my own negligence, fell out the opening up into our roof space and landed some 7 feet below on the broad of my back on our landing. I managed to get myself up onto our bed and as I lay there I thought of Matthew Henry and I simply prayed something along these lines ‘Let me be thankful first, because I have never fallen out of a roof space before; second, because although I am battered and bruised I’m not paralysed or killed; third, because although it was a big fall, the least possible has happened; and fourth, because it was I who fell and not Margaret’. To all who so regularly pray for the well being of Margaret and myself I say ‘thank you’ and I supremely thank the Lord that He cared when I was careless. As you will see from the enclosed schedule of meetings, Bob Liichow has not been able, due to family commitments, to come in April so I’m delighted to welcome back Alan Morrison to address the topic of ‘God [channel] TV’. Your prayers and attendance where possible will be welcomed.

News From The Front – December 2004

Dear praying friends,

Yet another year is drawing to a close and as time runs its course surely God’s ‘awake’ people can clearly see the outworking of that which is clearly predicted in God’s Word. If today society has not already spiralled down and reached the levels of days similar to those of Noah and Lot [wicked and immoral] then all I can say is that those former days must have been truly and unimaginably horrendous days. God’s people are called to be “salt” and “light” but today the world witnesses a professing ‘Church’ that has no “savour” and radiates no discernable “light”. As Roger Oakland said during his recent visit, professing believers have got their eyes upon ‘men, methods & movements’ and as a result the glorious gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ has been buried under an avalanche of purpose-driven, alpha-inspired, unscriptural feel-good trivia. And all the time Rome is advancing her claims and cause to be God’s one true church. On page 16 you will find details of Roger Oakland’s latest and timely book ‘Another Jesus’. News From The Front – September 2004

Dear praying friends,

I am very grateful to those who prayed faithfully for the ministry visit to California in June. Every plan went smoothly and safely [driving the California freeways is a little bit more ‘challenging’ than driving the roads of Northern Ireland] and the feedback from the various meetings was most encouraging. In particular I drew attention to the efforts of the promoters of ‘The Alpha Course’ to extend its influence this year in the USA through a nationwide series of conferences. One church that I spoke at in San Diego has posted my talk to its website and it can be listened to on the following link > [Sorry Link is Broken]

News From The Front – March 2004

Dear praying friends,

Another year is well under way and as I write this letter many topics have already been addressed and my faithful Internet webmaster has been working overtime in posting a wide range of articles to the ministry web site. Many of these articles do appear in NEWS FROM THE FRONT or as enclosures as in this case with ‘Earning The Right’ by Willie Cowan. I would ask for specific prayer for the ministry web site that the Lord will continue to use it to warn, inform and help people. Just this morning I received an email, which said,

‘I am glad to see you have a very active ministry. It is good for us in the USA to realise we did not invent evangelism. It seems you have a VERY full and diverse ministry. I hope if you are ever on the west coast you will give me fair warning. I live near Seattle. God bless your work. It is the work of evangelists and faithful Christians that showed me the Jesus in the Scripture after years of being in bondage to Watchtower teachings and thought. Today was my first day of teaching Sunday School and I feel so blessed that I escaped from where I was to find Jesus and now am able to share that with others in diverse ways. I hope you will keep my mum JD in your prayers; she is still a Jehovah’s Witness. In Christ’s love C

It is both encouraging and yet humbling to receive messages such as this – please pray for C in her service for the Master and pray also for the salvation of her mum JD.

News From The Front – December 2003

Dear praying friends,

My sincere thanks to all those who prayed specifically for the visit of Shaun Willcock during the period 26 October – 9 November. During that time Shaun spoke at 17 meetings and his message shed much light on the reality of what has happened and is happening in his homeland as he spoke of ‘Contending for Christ in South Africa’. His exposure of the lie of the ‘modern-day miracle that is South Africa’ should sound as a wake up call to God’s people in these islands for the very same assault on the open preaching of the unique Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ that took place in South Africa and that is now enshrined in their Constitution and Laws is taking place in our homeland and is very likely to be enshrined in the proposed European Constitution and other laws under which we will have to live. Imprinted on all of these changes are the fingerprints of the Vatican [aided by her associates such as the World Council of Churches] who pull and manipulate the strings of political establishments all over the world. Shaun has just had published a book entitled “‘Holy War’ Against South Africa” giving a full account of the history and events in South Africa and if you would like a copy it can be obtained from us [price £11.50 includes p&p].
